Bruce LaBruce’s Flea Pit is a riveting and daring exploration of queer revolution within the realm of gay pornography. Known for his provocative indie films such as “No Skin Off My Ass” and “Hustler White,” LaBruce brings his unique vision and audacious storytelling to the world of adult entertainment.

As a sheltered white, conservative, and religious Southerner, I found solace in LaBruce’s boundary-pushing movies during my college years in Baton Rouge. His work was a breath of fresh air, a whole new world that challenged conventional norms and introduced me to a vibrant queer culture outside the confines of Louisiana.

Watching LaBruce’s films was like experiencing John Waters on Adderall. It was an exhilarating ride that left me in awe. I also discovered the early films of Warhol, solidifying the fact that there was so much more to explore beyond my sheltered surroundings. It was a revelation, and I’m forever grateful for it.

Bruce LaBruce’s body of work has always captivated me with its irreverence and ability to push boundaries. It inspired me in my own journey as a director, and now, after almost 25 years, I am thrilled to have had the opportunity to collaborate with this unapologetic “cult” filmmaker.

Flea Pit is a collection of four interconnected short films that take place within the walls of a sparsely attended art house cinema screening of “The Raspberry Reich.” It all starts with a lustful gaze between two patrons, igniting a chain reaction of desire and sexual exploration.

The moans and groans on the screen stir the libidos of the audience members, intensifying their looks and unleashing their carnal desires. In one corner, a couple begins jerking off while another engages in passionate make-out sessions. Hands wander and grope, eyes dart around in search of voyeurs and exhibitionists.
